The San Miguel River offers excellent rafting just a few minutes from Telluride. Family-friendly half day trips on the Lower San Miguel cover 9 miles of splashy class II-III whitewater. The Upper San Miguel offers high-speed class III+ whitewater for experienced rafters and aggressive paddlers. Full day trips are available on the upper river and also through the scenic Norwood Canyon. Multiple day trips are available to explore the surrounding areas.
Telluride Outside offers both half and full day 4-WD tours in Telluride’s magnificent San Juan Mountains. Popular tours include Imogene Pass/Tomboy Ghost Town, Ophir Pass and Black Bear Pass, as well as sunset tours and excursions to Bridal Veil Falls. The 4WD vehicles used for tours are converted with special seating canopies for maximum comfort, safety, and optimal viewing. Be prepared for a history lesson too, as local guides tell stories about Telluride's mining days.
A perfect activity for the entire family, Telluride Outside teaches paddleboarding skills and basic technique. Choose from two excellent lakes, Trout Lake and Wild Boy Lake, both located approximately 15 minutes from Telluride. Snacks are provided and guests can be picked up in town or MV.
