Telluride COVID-19 Update

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Telluride community, our hearts go out to all those impacted by COVID-19. We are committed to doing our part to reduce the spread of this virus and hope you will join us in our mission. The virus is present in Telluride and San Miguel County, and health officials advise the public to follow CDC and County guidelines and mandates to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

San Miguel County Public Health issued a new Public Health Order effective June 1, that will be more aligned with the State’s new Executive Order. The new order will open up several sectors of the economy while keeping the health of the community a priority. Under this new order, lodging will open to guests at 25% capacity and the 14-day quarantine for people returning to the area will be lifted. Private campgrounds opened on June 1, with state and federal campgrounds already open. In conjunction with the State's Order, childcare and summer day camps can resume operations, with restrictions and precautionary measures in place. Parents are encouraged to contact their childcare facilities or camps for more information.

Restaurants may open to dining indoors and outdoors with capacity limitations, and tables and groups must be limited to no more than eight people and spaced so that patrons are a minimum of six feet apart. Based on the State’s Executive Order, bars are not allowed to open at this time, with a reevaluation scheduled in June. Retail and personal services resumed operations in early May, and will continue to operate with best practices in place. Click here to view a list of restaurants and retail establishments that are open.

Due to the State's Executive Order limiting group sizes to under 10 people, many festivals have been cancelled including Bluegrass Festival, Yoga Festival, 4th of July Celebration, Ride Festival. and Jazz Festival. Check our festivals and events page for updates.

We are doing our part to keep our guests healthy through best practices, and in return we ask that you do your part by respecting our community’s guidelines and taking the following measures during your stay:

  • Wear face coverings in public places, and outdoors when you are unable to maintain six feet of physical distance. Face coverings are required in indoor public areas in the Town of Telluride
  • Maintain physical distance of six feet.
  • No group gatherings over 10 people.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • If you experience symptoms, call the medical center immediately at 970.728.3848.

In Telluride, our visitors are part of our community, and together we can keep our beloved mountain destination strong and healthy.
