This scenic hike takes you to the Lewis Mine nestled above Bridal Veil Basin and Lewis Lake located in a glacial basin at 12,700 feet above sea level. You will pass remnants of the area's rich mining history, numerous waterfalls, and wildflowers galore! 


Begin by hiking or driving up to Bridal Veil Falls on the far east end of the town of Telluride. Follow Colorado Avenue eastward past the Pandora Mill site and continue up the dirt, switchbacked road. High clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles recommended. Enter the gate at the top of the falls towards the Bridal Veil Basin. Follow the rocky road on the east side of the creekl as it ascends. After approximately 1.8 miles, go right at the fork in the path. Continue on the road. After another 1.5 miles, take a left at the Blue Lake junction. Continue to follow the trail to the Lewis Mill and Mine. 

Follow the trail beyond the mill to reach the Lewis Lake dam.
