G. Love and Special Sauce
No less than 23 years ago, the drummer Jeffrey "The Houseman" Clemens discovered a talented singer/guitarist in a Boston pub: G. Love. They added the upright bass player James "Jimi Jazz" Prescott and took the music world by storm, hitting the top of the charts with singles like "Cold Beverage" and "Baby's Got Sauce." The trio, called G. Love and Special Sauce, has been touring and recording ever since, playing their signature "trashcan blues" brand of funk, an infectious sound that makes it impossible not to dance.
G. Love and Special Sauce will play a free concert to close out the 2016-17 ski season. The festivities for the day include the annual Pond Skim, where skiers and boarders try to stay dry as they slide across the surface of the water at Gorrono Ranch, with a dance party and music by local favorite DJ Soul Atomic. Entries to the Pond Skim are free but limited to the first 100 participants, and prizes are awarded for Best Costume, Best Skim, and the audience's favorite: Best Wipeout. After the party at Gorrono, head down to the Mountain Village Core, where local musician Cousin Curtiss will warm up the crowds before G. Love and Special Sauce take the stage at 3 p.m.
