"Out of the 90 different countries I've been to, I've never seen anything more beautiful than what you have here." - B.B. King
Most of the shows are performed on the Main Stage in Telluride's Town Park located at the east end of downtown. The Grand Beer Tasting will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 12 pm - 3 pm with more than 50 microbreweries represented and over 150 different beers. As the sun goes down, venues around town turn into the famed "Juke Joints". Acts from earlier in the day play intimate late night performances at these smaller venues around the town of Telluride and Mountain Village. Performers and fans alike are drawn to our majestic box canyon; the old adage around town is that you came for a festival, and 20 years later, you're still here. The historic mining town of Telluride sits at 8,750 feet above sea level surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. It is home to some of Colorado's best skiing in winter and becomes festival central in the summer.
The Grand Tasting is held Saturday morning and is one of the most beloved events at the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival. 56 craft breweries participate in the tasting, with over 107 different styles of beer and cider to try! This year's featured breweries include Aspen, Avery, Full Sail, Great Divide, New Belgium, Odell, Sierra Nevada, Ska and our very own Telluride Brewing Company and Smuggler Union. Click here for a full list of breweries participating.
In addition to a full three days of music on the Main Stage, the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival features an indoor second stage right in Telluride Town Park named the Blues Stage. The Blues Stage features traditional blues acts and a few sets of standup comedy.
Blisters & Brews is a 5k Fundraiser Race on Saturday morning, giving Festival patrons the opportunity to exercise before the Festival. The 5k Race, sponsored by BootDoctors™ Paragon Outdoors, will raise money for the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program in remembrance of dear festival friend Felix Snow.
Leading up to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, solo Musicians not signed to a major record deal can submit entries to compete in the Telluride Blues Challenge. The top six entries get an invite to compete at the Telluride Blues Challenge Finals held at the Elks Club on Saturday of the festival. The Elks Club also serves breakfast for spectators at this event. Last year we had 48 entries and this competition is an exciting way for festival attendees to start the day.
