Lone Cone is located in gorgeous Norwood, Colorado just outside of Telluride in the San Juan Mountains. The Lone Cone Fat Bike Challenge is a self-supported backcountry endurance fat bike race. The route is 25 miles long with 2500 feet elevation gain on freshly groomed snowmobile trails. Don’t let the length and elevations fool you, it can still take up to five hours with fresh snow! This is not meant for beginner riders or someone looking to check out fat bikes for their first time. The route is on groomed trails but fresh deep soft snow can exist which will make for a challenging ride. Expect to walk on the infamous Hillary Step towards the top of the route at 10,500 feet. Be prepared, this will be an epic day on the fat bike!
