Botanical printing, also known as eco-printing, is a unique way to transform the surface of fabric using leaves and flowers. In this course, students will gain an understanding of the plants, equipment, tools, and processes needed for making colorful contact prints on fiber. Students will also explore with indigo, learning how to make an organic indigo dye vat and traditional surface design techniques. Shibori and a variety of clamp and string resist methods using will be taught using silk and cotton fabrics. Beginners are welcome; no previous experience is necessary.
