This Valentine’s Day, give yourself or someone you love the gift of creativity. One of medicine’s oldest and most powerful healing tools, creating art has been shown to improve heart rate and blood pressure, lower stress hormones, improve sleep, and lessen physical pain. This half-day workshop will allow students to play with different mediums and techniques as they experience collage, journaling, haiku writing, and mandala making. All activities are intentional and meant to help students express themselves, deepen their powers of observation, convey emotion and relieve stress. Simply come dressed for a mess and ready to explore; all materials are included, including smocks.
Instructor Paula Jo Miller will donate 50% of her teaching fees to Beyond Words, Int'l, a foundation that provides visual art, music and dance to help women and children who have experienced trauma.
