Maggie Doyne, author of Between the Mountain and the Sky, and subject of a documentary film by the same name, will hold a book signing on Sunday, May 26, at Between the Covers Bookstore & Cafe, Telluride, at 11:30am. This event is free and open to the public. Doyne will be joined by Jeremy Power Regimbal, Director of the documentary film Between the Mountain and the Sky, for the Mountainfilm premiere on Friday evening (5:30pm, Palm Theatre) as well as the book signing on Sunday. The film follows Doyne’s journey from a childhood in New Jersey to a high school gap year and world travels, which led her to volunteer in India alongside Nepalese Co-Founder Tope Malla, and to visit Nepal. Regimbal holds a very close personal connection to the subjects of the documentary – he and Doyne married in 2017. Doyne, CEO of the BlinkNow Foundation, began the organization and her community development work, together with Malla, in rural Nepal when she was a teenager. Her book is a memoir of stories about the children she has raised, the love shared in both hardships and triumphs that she and the community have faced together, and an inspiring reminder of the power of each person to change the world. Doyne was named the CNN Hero of the Year in 2015, has been featured in Forbes and the New York Times, and, together with a team of caregivers and teachers, has helped to raise more than 80 children and educate more than 600 students.
