Acclamations: Marshall Noice Exhibition

“My paintings are a celebration of the land that inspires me. Colorado has been an irresistible inspiration to me for decades. There are ridges, skylines, skies, and peaks that I simply must paint! These new works are my latest acclamations of some of the most iconic mountain views I’ve had the pleasure to know.” -Marshall Noice

An acclamation is a loud, eager expression of approval or praise. It is often communicated in a public way so that many may share in celebration. For oil painter Marshall Noice to refer to his newest body of work as “acclamations” of the legendary mountain vistas of the San Juans in and around Telluride shows not only his deep reverance for landscapes, forests, and the brilliant colors that appear in nature, but it’s also a testament to how artists like Noice honor their subject matter with their mastery of medium. Noice expertly translates his inspiration that comes from Colorado and his home state of Montana directly onto the canvas so that we viewers can all take part in celebrating the magnificence of the world around us. Marshall Noice is an artist based in Montana whose career has spanned media such as photography, pastels, and oil painting. He received his degree from the University of Montana, studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and worked as an assistant to Ansel Adams. Best known for his vibrant colors and abstract landscapes, Noice has exhibited widely since the 1980s. His work appears in public collections such as The Menil Collection in Houston, TX, and The National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY. His paintings have been on display in Telluride for more than 25 years. Join us for the opening of this special installation on January 8th from 5 - 8pm during Telluride Art Walk. The artist will be present.
