We Love Spring Break in Telluride!

Going to Disneyland, relaxing on the beach, or taking a National Park tour are all good options for a spring vacation the whole family will enjoy but the BEST option is a spring break trip to Telluride. The weather, the mountain, the town, the fun, the ease of getting around, spring lodging specials … they all combine to make March Madness in the San Juan Mountains more like March Radness.

This is what we love about this time of year, here in the most beautiful place on earth.

The Weather

Dodi And Family

Spring in Telluride means warm, sunny days – in March, daytime temps hover in the mid- to high 40s – bluebird skies and lots of daylight hours for skiing, boarding and basking. Take a break from the perfect spring skiing by soaking up the rays, craft cocktail or microbrew in hand, on the beach at the bottom of Lift 4 or on the sunny deck of one of the resort’s unique eateries. Just don’t forget your sunscreen.

The Mountain

We’re famous for our wide-open slopes with not a lift line in sight, and this is true all season long. Just as important, the Telluride Ski Resort has diverse terrain for all levels. Beginner and intermediate skiers and boarders can ski from the top of the resort to the bottom, enjoying the same variety and views as the experts and high-fiving the lifties like a local. No wonder Telluride has been named, once again, the number one ski resort in North America by Conde Nast Traveler’s readers.

The Town

The twin communities of Telluride and Mountain Village are quite the pair. Linked by the free Gondola, the world’s coolest public transportation system, each offers its own distinct vibe. Telluride is a National Historic Landmark District with a charming, well-preserved Main Street, unique independent boutiques and shops and award-winning restaurants. Mountain Village offers a more modern, luxurious feel in a European-style alpine setting, but still provides varied dining and shopping options.

The Fun

Sure, you’re here for the skiing, but in Telluride there are adventures to be had off the mountain too. Have an unforgettable day in the backcountry heli-skiing with Telluride Helitrax, or exploring by snowmobile, snowshoes or Nordic skis. Relive Telluride’s Wild West heritage at the Telluride Historical Museum or on a walking tour. Browse art galleries and shops to your heart’s content, all the while taking time to soak up the views.

The Ease

Dang, Telluride’s easy to get to with direct flights from 12 American cities. And once you’re here, the ease continues. In Telluride, the mountain comes right down into the town, which itself is catered to by the free Galloping Goose bus service running on a loop every 10 minutes all day long. As for Mountain Village, there are runs that go right through the town center and pretty much everywhere is ski in/ski out. Telluriders don’t schlep to the slopes because they don’t have to, and you won’t either.
