Top Summer Bucket List in Telluride

Wondering what to do when you are vacationing in Telluride? Telluride guests have captured some amazing moments from their adventures which we have turned into a Telluride Bucket List.

  1. Take a ride on the free Gondola The free gondola is the only transportation system of its kind in North America and has been praised for providing free, convenient, and environmentally sound transportation. The gondola links the historic town of Telluride to the Town of Mountain Village via a beautiful 13-minute ride.

  2. Visit Bridal Veil Falls It just so happens that the tallest free falling waterfall in Colorado is located right here in Telluride. Standing at a staggering 365 feet in length, this is a sight not to be missed. Hike, bike or drive (parking is VERY limited so hiking and biking are preferred) all the way to the top of the falls on the 1.8 mile (with a 1,200 foot elevation gain) rocky road. Another option is to stop at the bottom of the falls (about 1.2 miles) and get energized in the midst of the mist.

  3. Hike the Jud Wiebe This 3-mile, in-town trail is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. You will travel through groves of aspen trees, pass through wide open meadows and get stunning panoramic views of Telluride all while on this great hike.

  4. Spend time on the Valley Floor The Telluride Valley Floor stretches for three miles and is 570-acres of protected land. The Valley Floor is a sanctuary for wildlife and a year-round oasis for activities. In the summer, you can find people SUPing, kayaking, fly-fishing or floating down the San Miguel in tubes. There is also a River Trail that runs through the Valley Floor and into town where you will find people running, walking and taking in the scenery.

  5. Hike to Bear Creek Falls This is another one of Telluride’s most popular trails, and for good reason. This 5-mile, out and back trail takes you through a beautiful, wooded area with open meadows in a few spots. As if the gorgeous hike wasn’t enough, it ends with an awe-dropping set of waterfalls and a one-of-a-kind view of the town of Telluride.

  6. Experience a sunset in Mountain Village There isn’t much that compares to a Telluride sunset. Plan out a gondola ride in time to catch the best sunset you’ll ever lay eyes on or hop out at San Sophia Station and watch from 10,551 feet.

  7. Paddleboard at Trout Lake Trout Lake lies just 15 miles from downtown Telluride. This beautiful body of water is surrounded by rigid peaks, an abundance of greenery, and glistening blue water. Hop on your SUP board and take in the stunning scenery while paddle boarding in a place like no other.

  8. Catch a Telluride rainbow Throughout the summer, quick rain showers regularly pass through the box canyon. We welcome the rain because that can only mean one thing – it’s rainbow time. As we all know, at the end of a rainbow there is always a pot of gold, and in our box canyon, that just happens to be Telluride.

  9. Hike the Via Ferrata Suitable for adrenaline junkies, the Via Ferrata is an exciting adventure that is not for the faint of heart. You’ll make your way on a narrow, exposed one foot-wide trail until you arrive at the main event. The main event entails a roughly 2-mile traverse via steel monkey-bar rungs and steps. It is recommended to go with a local guide if you are not familiar with the route and be sure to have correct climbing gear.
