NOAA Releases Winter 2025-26 Forecast
NOAA has released the 2025-26 winter forecast, and it's looking like a La Nina to ENSO-neutral year for Colorado.
The temperatures are looking warmer for the majority of the southern half of the United States, including much of California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, the Mid-Atlantic, and well up into New England. However, Colorado is leaning toward "equal chances" of precipitation, which matches the general storm track of a previous weak La Nina to ENSO-neutral winter. It is still up in the air whether it will be a neutral or a weak La Nina winter.
Please note: Long-range forecasts are rarely accurate. These forecasts cover three months, but we know that skiing quality improves and degrades with storm cycles that last a few days to a week.
