The hike to Blue Lake is a spectacular trip with wildflowers galore! The alpine lake is situated above treeline at 12,400 feet. Along the trail you will find abandoned mining cabins and equipment.
Begin by driving or hiking up to Bridal Veil Falls on the east end of the town of Telluride. High clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles are recommended. Enter the gate at the top of the falls and continue on a narrow road behind the power plant alongside Bridal Veil Creek. You will arrive at a split in the trail about an hour into the hike; stay left, and continue up the switchbacks towards the basin until you reach Blue Lake.
