The first act of the day was the Blind Boys of Alabama. These guys are legends! In their 60-year career, they have earned Grammys and spots in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. It was so cool to see them on the stage in the Telluride Town Park!
Leo “Bud” Welch took the stage next. Did you know he is 83-years-old, and that his first record came out in 2013? Yeah, that’s pretty cool!
The Revivalists are a bunch of awesome performers. Their lead singer, David Shaw, sure knew how to put on a show! Special guest to their performance: a 14-year-old kiddo who absolutely ripped it on the guitar!
Closing the festival, the Taj Mahal Trio hit the stage, followed by Greg Allman. Did you know these two groups were some of the first to perform on the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage (aka, the Main Stage) when it was first constructed about 40 years ago? And now, they are the final act, as construction on a new stage is set to begin this month.
Thanks for another great year, Telluride Blues and Brews! We look forward to the 23rd!
