Top 5 Romantic Things To Do in Telluride

Tuesday • February 13, 2018

So, your sweetheart has surprised you with a dream getaway to Telluride. The beauty of the box canyon will leave you breathless and so may the challenging ski trails! How can you keep the romance going while in town? Below are our top 5 ways:

Intimate Dinner at the Tunnel

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind gourmet dining experience in Telluride that is so intimate there is just one table! Entrance to this restaurant is accessed from a non-descript hallway above Clark’s Market.  But beware, you must have a password. That’s right, all reservations are made through OpenTable and guests will later be given a word or phrase that is their ticket to passage into the Tunnel. Relish six courses over the next two hours. Menus change every other week and there is seating for 10. Bon Vivant!

Alpenglow at Allreds

In any other location, riding the Gondola would be a romantic occasion in and of itself. In Telluride, enhance that experience by stopping for a drink at Allreds, the restaurant located at the top of the Gondola. Arrive when it opens at 5pm to secure the corner high-top table in the bar. Or, make a reservation for two along the bank of windows that line the north side of the restaurant. Either place is perfect for enjoying a glass of champagne with your honey, taking in the enormous mountain views and watching the sunset light up the box canyon for the most beautiful alpenglow.

Observatory at Alta Lakes

The Observatory is just south of Telluride near the ghost town of Alta. At 11,000 feet this backcountry cabin offers plenty of privacy and tranquility. There aren’t any neighbors and wi-fi is optional! That doesn’t mean it’s not luxurious. The kitchen is modern, the beds are comfortable, and the furnishings feel mountain chic. Take advantage of cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, or go old school and build a snowman. At day’s end, cuddle up with your honey in the hot tub under the starry sky. The observatory is known to the be THE place to fall in love, get engaged or exchange vows.

Sleigh Ride

Ride up to the historic Aldasoro ranch for dinner, in a horse-drawn sleigh. Cozy up to your sweetie under warm blankets and drink cocoa or a hot toddy for the short ride. Arrive at the tented venue and enjoy tapas and a Basque-themed dinner. The mood is set with twinkly lights and a gas stove. Stomach-filled head back down to town.

Stay at Sunny Ridge Summit

This unique ridge-top home is a sight to behold. The views are spectacular, affording a sweeping vista from Wilson Peak to the entire Snefflels Range. One of the finest homes in Telluride, there is a home theater, billiard room, and a hot tub that can fit 8. This is the ultimate treat for your Valentine.
