We hiked the Jud Wiebe Trail yesterday afternoon to get some beta on the fall colors in the Telluride area. While the colors are beginning to show here-or-there around downtown, they're not quite popping yet at 9,000+ feet. Which means you still have time to plan a last minute trip to get down to the San Juan Mountains to catch "the peak."
Here's yesterday's view from the Jud Wiebe Trail. A small patch beginning to show at 9,000+ feet below fresh snow on the Telluride Ski Resort:
With the help of multiple frosty and chilly mornings this week, they're sure to change by the minute. Our prediction: "the peak" will happen in the next 10 days and it will go fast. Forecast for the next 10 days is Sunny in the low 50's... prime hiking and get-outside weather.
With football season in full swing (here are the best places to catch a game), gorgeous weather for hiking, prime fly fishing conditions, less crowds, and fun upcoming fall events, this is our favorite time to be in Telluride. Let us know if you plan to make a last minute trip to check out the fall colors. We have plenty of lodging in Telluride to accommodate your needs.
