El Diente is a lesser-known 14,000-foot peak located in the Lizard Head Wilderness. This is an extremely difficult trail for experts only. The route to the top of the peak requires technical skills and equipment any time of the year. It can be dangerous to attempt during the winter months and requires additional technical experience, equipment, and training.

Directions:

From Telluride, head south on CO-145 to Dunton Road (Forest Service Road 535). Continue five miles to the trailhead (Kilpacker Trail).
