Everyone can enjoy baseball (or kickball, on our 3 baseball fields), basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, soccer and skateboarding throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. In Summer, there is also a heated pool with locker rooms. The large open field in front of the state is a great place for tossing the frisbee. There is even a little dog park for any dog to run wild and meet some great new friends.
A playground, fishing pond, and barbeque station make Town Park a great family destination. If you have a child who just loves to catch little fish with their Superman fishing pole, then come let them fish here! Town Park's fishing pond has small trout for children under 12 to catch. If you don’t have your own there are no charge rods in the Information Center.
Town Park is also the site of many Telluride festivals, including the Telluride Bluegrass and Blues and Brew's festivals. World-class musicians have played to thousands on Telluride's picturesque stage nestled beneath the towering peaks. The local repertory theater has also performed both original and classic productions in Town Park. 4th of July celebrations are also best seen in Town Park. With lots of space for family picnics and a great fireworks display put on by the local volunteer firefighters, Town Park is the place to be on Independence Day.
When the first few snowflakes fall, Town Park turns into a mecca for all things winter! It is home to the only sledding hill in town, Firecracker hill. This hill is short, sweet and accessible for kids of all ages. Located a few steps from the Nordic Center, there is a large, groomed track for Nordic skiing.
