Hike Past Waterfalls, Wildflowers, and Mining Ruins

The hike to Blue Lake is a spectacular trip with wildflowers galore! The alpine lake is situated above treeline at 12,400 feet. Along the trail, you will find abandoned mining cabins and equipment.

Elevation Gain: Approx. 2,000 feet
Time: 4 hours round trip


Begin by driving or hiking up to Bridal Veil Falls on the east end of the town of Telluride. High clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles are recommended. Enter the gate at the top of the falls and continue on a narrow road behind the power plant alongside Bridal Veil Creek. You will arrive at a split in the trail about an hour into the hike; stay left, and continue up the switchbacks towards the basin until you reach Blue Lake.
