Great
ice climbing is found throughout Colorado, from single-pitch
cragging, to mixed testpieces, mulitpitch and alpine.
Telluride contains several exceptional (and easily accessible) ice climbs - Bridal Veil Falls, and Ingram Falls being the most classic - and many routes are within a short drive. Telluride is truly a Colorado ice climbing destination.
If you've never ice climbed before, it's time to give it a shot. Gear (read: safety) has come a long way as of late, and it's now more fun than ever. If you're interested in whacking your way up a frozen sea, contact one of our local Telluride vacation specialists today. It's hard to believe, but ice climbing is fun for the whole family.

Bridal
Veil Falls
Classic.
Before heading up Bridal Veil Falls, be sure to sign the waiver at
the trailhead. When heading down the trail use extreme caution, as
you pass several avalanche paths on your way to the 300 feet of
goodness. Note: Do not climb directly below the Power House and stay
off the structure at the top, as these are on private property.
Ames
Falls
Though
not quite in Telluride, a half hour to forty-five minute drive gets
you there. Can you say steep? The 600 foot Ames Wall contains the
mega Ames Ice Hose and several other lines.
Ouray
A
forty-five minutes drive (longer if conditions are not ideal) from
Telluride is Ouray, home to the Uncompaghre Gorge and the Ouray Ice
Park. This is easily the friendliest place to ice climb in Colorado
(if not the world!).
