The Mountain
As you pull into the maze at Lift #4, you say to yourself, “OK, that went well,” and hop on Lift #4 over to lifts #5 and #6 to test out some steeper terrain. The bumps on Palmyra (off Lift #5) are always a nice mogul warm-up, and it’s always a good sign when Happy Thoughts (off Lift #6) gives you just that. Now it’s time to try Gold Hill, Prospect Basin and the new Revelation Bowl. You take a few tumbles, including a minor yard sale on Upper Dynamo, but nothing too serious. The north-facing powder on Confidence (off Lift #12) nurses that ego, not to mention a couple sunny runs in Revelation Bowl, which could be the most exquisite scenery you’ve ever experienced while skiing.
As you head down See Forever, glancing at your cell phone for any recent texts, you realize it’s already 1 p.m. Wow, that was quite a morning. You decide to pull in at Alpino Vino, the quaint European-style wine bar and eatery perched at 12,000 feet, to take in the views and some much-needed lunch. Getting comfy on the deck, you dive into your sandwich, and hope you still have enough energy for a run or two on Lift #9 (maybe not the bumps on Mammoth, but possibly a groomer on Bushwacker) before picking the kids up from ski school.
They say variety is the spice of life and that’s certainly the case at the Telluride Ski Area. Not that the mountain wasn’t always impressive and a superb place to ski, but in the past several years, big changes have occurred, adding to the beginner, intermediate and expert terrain. And despite the mountain’s size (2,000-plus skiable acres), it’s extremely well connected so you really can explore a bit of everything in one day. Additionally, on-mountain dining and other guest services have grown by leaps and bounds making the experience that much more enjoyable for skiers and snowboarders of all ages.
Nestled in the highest concentration of 13,000 to 14,000 foot peaks in North America, the Telluride Ski Resort offers superior beauty and terrain that is truly “Unmatched”. Enjoy the free Gondola that separates the old Historic town of Telluride with the new “European Style” town of Mountain Village that enables both towns to experience ski-in/ski-out convenience.
