Nordic Skiing

Telluride Valley Floor loop
A 6-km loop of beginner terrain winds along the Valley Floor one mile west of town. This loop may be accessed from the San Miguel River Trail (heading west), or from behind the Shell station on Hwy. 145.

Town Park
Stretch your ski legs on 3 km of circuit track. From here, you can connect with the San Miguel River Trail, which runs through town and eventually arrives at the Valley Floor loop.

Prospect Basin & Magic Meadow 
Accessed from the top of Lift 10, 10 km of groomed tracks await the intermediate and advanced nordic skier. The advanced skier can ski from Magic Meadows past abandoned mining cabins to Alta Lakes. Nordic day and season passes available from the ski area for Lift 10 only.

Telluride Golf Course
Open fairways mark the 6 km of intermediate trails on the scenic Telluride Golf Course in the Mountain Village. Accessed from the Wyndham Peaks Resort and Golden Door Spa.

Priest Lake
Eight miles south from Telluride on Hwy. 145, park at the USFS Ranger Station on the left-hand side of the road. This 5- to 10-km groomed track (length depends on who grooms) is recommended for classic skiing because the trails are narrow. Please respect efforts to keep these trails in top shape and leave dogs at home when skiing on maintained tracks.

Nordic Lessons
Group lessons are available daily at 11 a.m. at the Nordic Center in Telluride Town Park. Additional lessons available at alternative locations with advance reservations. Private lessons are available by request. To book lessons, call the Telluride Nordic Center at 728-1144.

Telluride Nordic Center
At the east end of Town Park in the historic Unruh house. Here you can rent ice skates and classic and skate ski packages for kids and adults. Wax and incidentals available. Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Extended hours when ice rink is open for public skating.

San Juan Hut System
Telluride to Ouray Hut-to-Hut Backcountry Telemark Terrain Nordic System in the Mt. Sneffel's Range, Southwest Colorado. San Juan Hut System operates five backcountry ski huts connecting Telluride Ridgway and Ouray. Each hut can be individually accessed or advanced skiers can travel hut-to-hut in the European tradition.
