Telluride Playwrights Festival
The Telluride Playwright's Festival is a six day intensive workshop for playwrights, actors, and directors to refine their craft and written work. The festival is put on by Sparky Productions, a non-profit that offers playwrights the unique experience of working in a Rocky Mountain setting. The goal is to help playwrights fulfill their vision in an intimate workshop setting beneath the San Juan Mountain peaks.
Plays are chosen from a submission system; playwrights are then offered the opportunity to travel to Telluride to work with a group of actors, directors, and fellow playwrights to refine their work. The week culminates in staged readings of the work at the Sheridan Opera House. The public is encouraged to participate in a feedback session following the reading.
In the past, plays have gone on to be produced in Denver, New York City, and Chicago, all with the label, "Made in Telluride."
