Telluride vs. Mountain Village
With
all of the lodging options in the Telluride, Colorado area, first
time visitors can find it hard to know where to begin. First of all,
rest assured that no matter where you decide to stay you get to wake
up in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the country.
Almost any window you gaze out has magnificent views. That being
said, there are still a number of considerations in making a
Telluride
lodging
choice. First, you can choose to be in Mountain Village or the Town
of Telluride. The two towns are connected by a complimentary
15-minute gondola ride that runs daily (7am-midnight) throughout the summer and winter
seasons.
Town of Telluride:
- The Town of Telluride is a National Historic District with Victorian architecture and a fun, well preserved downtown filled with great restaurants and shops.
- Everything is close by and within walking distance, but there is a complimentary shuttle called the Galloping Goose that loops through town all day.
- Our hotels, condominiums and homes are located throughout town in ideal spots depending on your personal vacation objective.
- Choose between the East End or West End, or the Gondola District.
- Many of our condos are located along the San Miguel River, which runs though town.
- Nothing in town is more than a few blocks from main street, and strolling through town surrounded by towering peaks is one of the pleasures of being here.
Mountain Village:
- Mountain Village is a newer resort community with a “core” that includes restaurants and shops at the base of the ski mountain.
- Mountain village is primarily comprised of vacation homes and condo rentals, most along the ski slopes and/or golf course.
- Most of our condos are located in the core with great access to ski school and the gondola that connects the Mountain Village with the Town of Telluride.
