Telluride Festival Lodging

Telluride is known as “the festival capital of Colorado” for good reason.  When Telluride was a sparsely populated town in the early 70’s, locals were of a music loving culture. What started out as home grown afternoon jam sessions turned into the summer festival schedule today.  Summer season kicks off with the renowned Telluride Bluegrass Festival.  Regular headliners include Sam Bush, Yonder Mountain String Band, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck with other well known names highlighting the 4 day event.  Telluride Jazz Festival is another big event and Telluride Blues and Brews Festival is the last big music festival of the summer.

If you’re considering coming to one of the festivals – keep in mind, the price you pay for lodging is determined by the location from the event.  In other words, the closer you want to be to the festival venue, the more you will pay for that convenience.  Music festivals, more specifically, have another aspect to consider…noise!  Again, the closer you are to the event – the more you will hear the various music acts throughout the day and into the night.

Along with the music festivals there are other, smaller festivals throughout the summer.  Balloon Festival, Wine Festival, Yoga Festival, Mushroom Festival…festivals that appeal to a wide range of interests.

Most music festivals take place in Town Park at the east end of town.  Film Festivals have screenings throughout the town of Telluride and in Mountain Village, though the biggest concentration of screens are near the center of town.   Both major film festivals include special programs in Mountain Village, and condos in the village are often a relative value.  In reality most festivals are within walking distance or a gondola ride from any place in Telluride or Mountain Village.

For major festivals and July 4, visitors should realize that the gondola can back up after the event ends in the evening.  At its worst, lines at the gondola back to Mountain Village can last up to an hour.  However, town bars and restaurants often stay open late to offer a refreshing way to wait for the line to die down.

  • Telluride Gondola District Condos

Offers a wider selection of retail businesses and restaurants.  This is due to its proximity to downtown Telluride and the complimentary gondola.  The gondola is a public transportation system, connecting the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village – for free.

Winter or summer, guests enjoy the convenience of hopping on the gondola to access either ski terrain, or hiking and biking trails.  If you’re not inclined to expend that kind of energy – a nice walk around Mountain Village’s core is always a nice option.

  • Telluride East End Condos

Telluride's east end condos provide the most convenient access to all the activities in Town Park. Whether it is Nordic skiing or ice skating in the winter, or festivals and sports in the fall, there's always something doing on in Town Park.

Though slightly farther from the slopes than other Telluride locations, the Gondola and Lift #8 are still only a 5 minute walk away.
  • Mountain Village Condos

Mountain Village is generally quieter than Telluride, but only a 15 minute free Gondola ride away. The Village Core offers plenty of shopping and restaurants, and is the meeting place for the ski school.  In the summer, there is a weekly farmers market and free weekly outdoor concerts.  Telluride's only golf course in an easy walk from the Mountain Village Core.

There are plenty of lodging options both in the Mountain Village Core and in the surrounding area.  Visitors can stay on a budget or spend up and rent a large home in the area.
