Wow... what a year it's been. Robert Plant and Willie Nelson played Town Park, Baked in Telluride was resurrected, we skied, we hiked, we even skied and hiked the "closed" Bear Creek, the Wilson Peak trailhead opened, we got snow, we got even more sunshine and we had some of the best memories of our lives. We hope you shared a special moment or event in Telluride in 2011... if not, make it your New Year's Resolution to come visit us soon. It will be the best gift you could give yourself for 2012! 4th of July is one of the best weekends in Telluride... hands down. Parades, live music, BBQ, Fireworks, Bloody Mary's, Red, White & Blues, Freedom, and lots lots more. There is so much going on... here's a quick recap of a events going down this holiday weekend: 

Friday, July 1st - 
  • Telluride Farmers Market - Come check out local vendors from the Telluride region every Friday afternoon on South Oak Street. 
  • Telluride Gallery of Fine Art: Reception opening for Barbara Heinrich
  • Telluride MusicFest – July 1st-3rd check out www.telluridemusicfest.com for more details.
  • Telluride Plein Air – 30 nationally recognized Plein Air artists participate in a week-long celebration of art. Their paintings will be on sale this weekend, July 3rd & 4th, in front of the Sheridan Opera House.
  • Band Aids & BBQ at the Telluride Medical Center from 5:00-7:00pm

Saturday, July 2nd

  • Mountain Bike “No Drop” Skill Building Trail Ride – Every Saturday Paragon Sports presents mountain bike “no drop” skill building trail rides. Free and all levels welcome!
  • Mountain Village Farmers & Artists Market – Come check out the Mountain Village Farmers & Artists Market from 2:00-7:00pm in the Mountain Village Core.
  • Red, White and Blues Concert – Kick-off the Fourth of July Celebration with “Hot 8 Brass Band” in Sunset Plaza, Mountain Village. Kid activities, ice cream social, and FREE concert!
  • Telluride History Museum presents: Lone Tree Cemetery Tour – take a tour with local historian, Andrea Benda and explore the heroes & heritage of Telluride! @ 3:45pm
  • The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents: Jason D. Williams in concert – Kick off the Plein Air with a free Gala Premiere & Silent Auction and then rock out to Jason D. Williams @ 7:30pm

Sunday, July 3rd

  • Mountain Bike Full Day Blast Ride – Free bike ride with Paragon Sports involving local trails and/or field trips.
  • Telluride History Museum Unveiling of New Outdoor Exhibit – Gold panning, interactive, hotdogs, FREE beer and music by The Great Funktier! Noon-5pm (This will be AWESOME!)
  • Your favorite local band, The Great Funktier, will rock out The Llama Sunday night! Show starts around 10pm

Monday, July 4th

  • The Telluride Foundation Presents the 1st annual ‘Rundola Race’. This is a foot race starting at the bottom of the Gondola… first one to the top, wins a bike from Telluride Sports!
  • Telluride’s Fourth of July Celebration Events – Celebrate independence with an old-fashioned parade (around 10am), community picnic/Fireman’s BBQ in Town Park around Noon, Kid’s games (water balloon toss, pie-eating contest, three-legged race), and the best fireworks show you’ve ever seen at dusk! HAPPY 4th!
  • FREE Root Beer Floats at the Museum following the Main Street Parade!
  • Sam’s Funky Nation will rock out The Llama Monday night @ 5:30pm!
