Sheridan Opera House announce Winter Entertainment

Posted on November 8, 2011 by Hart
Our good friends at the Sheridan Opera House just announced a KILLER lineup for this upcoming winter. Now let's be serious... anyone you see at the Opera House is an absolute magical experience. It's unique decor, old-school western feel, and small atmosphere make it one of the best venues in the country. I've been to a lot of different music venues around the country and it's still in my top 5 (others on the list include: Red Rocks, Telluride Town Park, The Gorge, Ryman Auditorium) of places to see a live show.

The Sheridan Opera Foundation has just announced their 2011/2012 Holiday Concert Series. Joe Pug, Justin Townes Earle, Head for the Hills, Canned Heat, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jason Isbell, Elephant Revival, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon and much, much more! Elephant Revival live at the Sheridan Opera House

Posted on March 22, 2011 by Hart
I had never heard of Elephant Revival until I stepped foot in the historic Sheridan Opera House last weekend. I had heard good things, a few (short) iTunes clips... but never really paid much attention to this "Transcendental Folk" band out of Nederland, Colorado. Nederland is a breeding ground for great music. NedFest, Mountain Standard Time, Yonder Mountain String Band, and many of other artists have come out of this little slice of bluegrass heaven and many artists make a yearly pilgrimage to play in its small bars. I had missed them when they traveled to town and opened for Leftover Salmon a few weeks back... I was more than stoked to discover a new band. A more laid-back sound and mood in the Sheridan Opera House than previous shows (Stockholm Syndrome and Mike Gordon had my head ringing for days) but some of the best collective folk music I've heard in a very long time. Fiddle, banjo, guitar, stand-up bass, and washboard serenaded the crowd in a genre I was unable to define. It's like Celtic meets indie with a splash of Appalachia bluegrass and jazz. You're probably thinking, washboard?? And yes. She killed it on the washboard. Beautiful music and a must-see if they're in your area. Check out more band info and music clips at: http://elephantrevival.com/ Can't wait for them to come back to Telluride! Check out a few clips from their show at the Sheridan Opera House:
