A Snowlover's Paradise

Living on the outskirts of Telluride, everyone told me to get a snowmobile for the winter. Snowmobile, please, I have a Jeep! Apparently I wasn't ready for exactly how much snow we would be getting. My poor little Jeep, she tries, but sometimes the shear thought of driving thru 4 feet of snow makes her cringe. Boy, I wish I had bought a snowmobile!

I had never been snowmobiling. I come from the east coast where we ride jet skis. With all this snow, I thought I would give it a shot. My 3 buddies and I called MD at Telluride Snowmobile Adventures and booked a tour. A 2 hour tour. We arrived at "snow base" ready for some fun. After we got fitted for our helmets and heard the safety procedures, we hopped on our own brand new snowmobiles. "Wow" was all I could say. This is going to be awesome! It was in the negatives and snowing that day, but it was so much fun that it didn't matter that I couldn't feel my toes.

In single file lines, we bobbed and weaved thru trees up to the Alta Lakes Ghost Town, and old mining town, where MD gave us a great history lesson about the area. Not to mention how beautiful the scenery is up there, breathtaking. So not only were we having an amazing time, we were actually learning something. Mom would be so proud. When we got back to snow base, we all wanted to go again, except for my petite friend - I am sure her face was frozen. We had a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone that comes to this beautiful town.

Everyone was right, not only are snowmobiles a way to get in and out of snowed-in places, but they are so much fun to ride!
